Dr. Sarika Bahl
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, PSY 30113, seeing clients all over California via telehealth as well as in person in Berkeley and Oakland. I provide individual psychotherapy and family therapy across the lifespan, and have training and experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and individual adult clients. Psychotherapy research proves again and again that the biggest factor contributing to a positive outcome in therapy is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. There are many valid, evidence-based practices in therapy, and I use a variety of interventions, catered to your needs. My role is to listen and understand your goals, your concerns, the kind of help you want, and what works best for you. I come from a place of curiosity, wanting to understand your experience so that you feel fully understood. I work collaboratively with clients, establishing a warm, empathic environment that feels safe and free of judgement.
In my free time, I’m typically out hiking, tossing a ball for my pup, Mochi, baking for my family and friends, watching a documentary, listening to a podcast, or tending to one of my many houseplants.

Services
Adolescents (pre-teen and teen)
Adolescence is a time of challenging transitions, important identity development, and strong emotions. The middle school and high school years are filled with navigating interpersonal dynamics and engaging in self-exploration. My work with this age group is informed by my clinical experience as well as my work as a former grade school teacher.
Parenting
The first years of life are exceptionally formative periods, and a secure attachment relationship between a child and caregiver(s) is critical to early childhood development. My practice is deeply affirming of the trials of early parenthood. Parenting does not end in early childhood, and I offer support for parents of children of all ages, including adult children.
Adults
Individual therapy for adults can address a range of topics. Specific areas of expertise working with adults include anxiety and stress, depression, difficulties in relationships, career challenges and transitions, identity shifts, and grief\loss.
Outdoor Therapy
There are many benefits to doing therapy out in nature. Being outside and moving our bodies has a known benefit to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Many also find talking while walking side by side to be less anxiety provoking than the stereotypical office setting for therapy. Outdoor therapy is also particularly helpful for those experiencing ‘zoom fatigue’ as so much of our lives are now spent in front of a screen. Outdoor therapy involves much more, and I encourage you to reach out of if this is something you think could help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you meet clients virtually or in person?
Both! I offer telehealth appointments to clients all over California. Outdoor therapy is an option for those located in or near the Oakland area. If you prefer meeting indoors, my office is located at 2428 Dwight Way in Berkeley, close to campus.
What is your fee?
My fee for a 50-minute session is $275.
Do you accept insurance?
I don’t accept insurance, but I can provide a statement to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I recommend you contact your insurance provider directly to ask if they offer reimbursement for out-of-network benefits. Please note if you submit statements to insurance, they require a diagnosis that may become part of your medical record.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
I have limited spots for whom I can slide my fee. These spots are reserved for people in specific circumstances based on genuine financial need. It is important to me to provide treatment to those who cannot afford my fee.
